Laboratory Information Management System is a software that allows the user to effectively manage samples and associated data. By using LIMS, PCR lab can automate workflows, integrate instruments, and manage samples and associated information.
LIMS Nigeria supports several disease area such as HIV, Tuberculosis, HPV, Malaria and many more
The Early Infant Diagnosis module enables coordination of laboratory data of infants from 0-18 months.
The Viral Load module enables the coordination of Viral Load laboratory data for for PLHIV.
The LIMS HPV module the enables coordination and access of laboratory data for HPV patients. The user can add samples, approve samples , dispatch patients results and generate worksheets.
API
The EMR-LIMS Exchange enables LIMS to receive sample requisition details from the EMR and to return sample results to the EMR from LIMS. An authentication module was created to enable only authentic EMR systems to communicate with the LIMS platform.
Sample Requisition
To send sample to LIMS, ensure that there is an interoperability (API) between the sending system and LIMS. To interoperate with LIMS please raise a ticket and speak to the LIMS administrator.
Sample priority is the selection criteria for testing samples. The LIMS testing algorithm favours priority samples then others on a first come first test basis. Examples of priority samples include, HIV Exposed Infants, Pregnant women, Sick baby and High Viral load.
Results
LIMS follows an algorithm where priority samples are tested before others, if results have not been returned the samples are either not tested or they're in-process.
Worksheets
One of the functions of LIMS is that it enables workflow automation where users are assigned roles and responsibilities. If you cannot approve results it means that you are not authorized to. For more inquiry, please raise a ticket and speak to the LIMS administrator.
