History of LIMS

LIMS History

The Nigerian National Laboratory Information Management System (LIMS) was introduced in 2012 to address the in-country lack of an efficient HIV EID data management platform. Thus, CHAI supported the development of an EID LIMS; this platform was necessary to facilitate the expansion of the HIV EID program ongoing in-country at the time. Over the years, CHAI has supported the National HIV program with the expansion of LIMS to include HIV VL as well as deployment of the platform to all supported PCR testing laboratories in-country and facilitated the harmonization of the platform into a central database utilized across these labs. In recent years, LIMS has been adapted to accommodate additional disease areas of public health importance.
